Not-so-lavendar Doll
I like yellow, orange, and red daylilies. Lavender daylilies, though, aren't my favorite.
My Lavender Doll has finally bloomed and I think the flowers look ill. They aren't actually lavender - more of an anemic bluish-pink. The plants are far from the house, so I rarely see them. I'll let the lilies be and try to get used to the odd color. Maybe it will grow on me.

I think it's beautiful!
Oh, dear. I planted some kind of purple daylily for my purple garden and ordered another. I hope I am not as disappointed with them as you are with yours.
I love the color. Have you thought of planting something nearby with a deep purple or red to help bring out the color?
I've got lilyturf nearby. If it does well, I may plant a patch closer to the daylilies. Hmmmm...I've got a johnny-jump-up looking for a home. Maybe that would be too busy?
Absolutely right about the context thing. I usually just pass up blogs with only closeup pictures of flowers, but mix the flowers with benches, paths, fences, statues, pots, etc, and all of a sudden the blog really comes alive.
